Government Science Agencies

The United States Geological Survey is the scientific agency of the United States Department of the Interior, created by Congress in 1879 to classify public lands and examine the geological structure, mineral resources and products of the national domain. It maps terrain, monitors earthquakes, volcanoes, water and landslides, and employs geologists, hydrologists and biologists. The atlas links scientists to it where their cited articles say they worked for the survey, including under the short form US Geological Survey.
