1600s

This dimension groups scientific instruments by the era in which they were invented. Wikipedia notes that "a multitude of systems of units used to be very common" before "there is a global standard, the International System of Units (SI)," a shift that instruments themselves have gone through across many different eras. Browsing by invented era lets a visitor compare instruments that appeared in the same period.
