Disciplinary and Professional Societies

Societies and associations that bring together the practitioners of a single discipline or profession, such as physicists, chemists, statisticians, linguists and computing professionals, publish journals and hold meetings. A body belongs here when its cited article calls it a society or association of a field. It excludes national academies, which elect their members from every field and sit in their own group. Browse By lists these entries together so that a reader can move from one to the next and compare how each is described in the sources of the atlas.
