Fritz Pregl (1869-1930) was a Slovenian-Austrian chemist and physician who won the 1923 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his contributions to quantitative organic microanalysis, including his improvement of the combustion train technique for elemental analysis. His methods made it possible to analyze chemical samples far smaller than earlier techniques allowed.
