Charles Henry Bennett is an American physicist, information theorist and IBM Fellow, born in 1943, recognized for foundational work in quantum information science, including co-developing the first practical quantum cryptography protocol, BB84, with Gilles Brassard, and for contributions to quantum teleportation, quantum cryptography, quantum computing and reversible computing. He received the Harvey Prize in 2006, the Dirac Medal in 2017, the Claude E. Shannon Award in 2020, the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in 2019 and the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics in 2023, and shared the Turing Award with Brassard in 2025 for foundational contributions to quantum information science and secure communication and computing. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2018, shared with Brassard. He is also live on this family own computing atlas as a pioneer entity for the same quantum information work, a legitimate width mint of the same historically significant figure rather than a duplication.
