All Materials Science

Scientists whose primary working field is materials science or metallurgy: the study of how a material's composition and structure determine its properties, spanning metals, ceramics, polymers and the crystallography and microscopy techniques used to examine them. Split out of the Physical Sciences catch-all rather than folded into Physics or Chemistry, because the members placed here are described in their own sources as metallurgists or materials scientists first, working across both fields rather than squarely inside either one. A scientist described primarily as a physicist or a chemist who also touches materials work stays under that primary field; this subcategory holds only the members whose stated discipline is materials science or metallurgy itself.
