Edward Doisy

Edward Adelbert Doisy was an American biochemist, born in 1893 and died in 1986, who received the 1943 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Henrik Dam, for the discovery of vitamin K and determination of its chemical structure. Doisy also took part in the independent discovery of the hormone estrone in 1930. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1938, the American Philosophical Society in 1942, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1948.
