Karl Manne Georg Siegbahn was a Swedish physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1924 for his discoveries and research in the field of X-ray spectroscopy. He developed highly precise methods for measuring X-ray wavelengths and found that spectral lines once thought to be single components actually consisted of multiple parts, work that led to the Siegbahn notation used to name characteristic X-ray spectral lines.
