Theodore Maiman

Theodore Maiman was an American physicist and electrical engineer who lived from 1927 to 2007, widely credited with inventing the laser, which he first successfully operated on May 16, 1960, using a synthetic ruby crystal at Hughes Research Laboratories. He later founded or led several companies, including Korad Corporation, Quantatron and Maiman Associates, and held an adjunct professorship at Simon Fraser University. He received the Japan Prize in 1987 and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1984, with memberships in both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 1984. He is also live on this family own technology atlas as an engineer, a legitimate width mint of the same historically significant figure rather than a duplication.
