Peter B. Dervan (born 1945) is an American organic chemist and Bren Professor of Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology, working at the interface of chemistry and biology. He pioneered the sequence-specific recognition of double helical DNA by small synthetic molecules, developing pyrrole-imidazole polyamides that can be designed to bind particular DNA sequences. His contributions were recognized with the National Medal of Science in 2006 and the Priestley Medal in 2022.
