Nadrian Seeman

Nadrian C. Seeman, known as Ned Seeman, was an American chemist who lived from December 16, 1945 to November 16, 2021, a professor in the department of chemistry at New York University. He is known for inventing the field of DNA nanotechnology in the early 1980s, and in 1991 he created the first three-dimensional nanoscale object, a cube made of DNA. He shared the 2010 Kavli Prize in Nanoscience with Donald Eigler for their development of unprecedented methods to control matter on the nanoscale, and he also received the 2016 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Chemistry and the 1995 Feynman Prize in Nanotechnology.
