Christopher John Hawkesworth is a British earth scientist born December 18, 1947, in Khartoum, Sudan, who held the Wardlaw Chair of Earth Sciences at the University of St Andrews and served as the university Deputy Principal and Vice Principal for Research until 2014. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2002 and received the Wollaston Medal in 2012, the Robert Wilhelm Bunsen Medal in 2014, the Walter H. Bucher Medal in 2023, and the V. M. Goldschmidt Award in 2025.
