Leopold Kronecker (1823-1891) was a German mathematician who specialized in number theory, abstract algebra, and logic. Born in Liegnitz, Prussia, he made significant contributions to algebraic number theory and introduced concepts that bear his name, including the Kronecker delta and the Kronecker product. He was also known for his sharp critique of Georg Cantor's set theory, reflecting a finitist philosophy of mathematics summed up in his remark that God made the integers and all else is the work of man.
