Kamrun Nahar

Kamrun Nahar is a Bangladeshi soil scientist and environmentalist born in Dhaka who specializes in soil chemistry, climate change adaptation and biofuel research. Her work on producing low-carbon, low-sulphur biofuels from second-generation energy crops grown on Bangladesh's unused wastelands addresses water scarcity and food security while seeking alternatives to petroleum. An associate professor at North South University who has also taught at BRAC University and Independent University, Bangladesh, she is an elected member of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh and formerly served as secretary of the Institute of Environmental Professionals, Bangladesh.
