Owen Chamberlain

Owen Chamberlain was an American physicist. Working at the Bevatron particle accelerator at Berkeley in 1955, he took part in the research that discovered the antiproton, the antimatter counterpart of the proton. He shared the 1959 Nobel Prize in Physics with Emilio Segre for the discovery of the antiproton. Chamberlain later became active in the peace and social justice movements, including opposition to the Vietnam War.
