Koichi Tanaka is a Japanese electrical engineer who shared the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with John B. Fenn and Kurt Wuthrich for developing a method for mass spectrometric analysis of biological macromolecules, work he carried out as an engineer rather than an academic chemist.
