Gilles Brassard

Gilles Brassard is a Canadian computer scientist, born in 1955, recognized for pioneering work in quantum information science, including fundamental contributions to quantum cryptography, quantum teleportation and quantum entanglement distillation; he co-invented the BB84 quantum cryptography protocol with Charles H. Bennett in 1984. He has been a full professor at the Universite de Montreal since 1988 and a Canada Research Chair since 2001. He received the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics in 2022, and shared the Turing Award with Bennett in 2025 for foundational contributions to quantum information science and secure communication and computing. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2018, shared with Bennett. He is also live on this family own computing atlas as a pioneer entity for the same quantum information work, a legitimate width mint of the same historically significant figure rather than a duplication.
