Galactic And Extragalactic Astronomy

This group collects the Astronomy subcategory's members whose defining work concerns galaxies: the Milky Way's own structure and rotation, the discovery and classification of other galaxies, dark matter as first inferred from galactic rotation curves, and extragalactic astronomy generally. It is the subcategory's smallest flat group, kept apart from Cosmology And Large-Scale Structure, whose members study the universe's overall history, expansion and structure rather than individual galaxies.
