This group collects the Earth Sciences subcategory's members whose defining work concerns geology in the general sense: the structure, composition and history of the solid Earth, stratigraphy, tectonics and field geology, spanning the founders of the discipline through its modern structural and economic geologists. It is kept apart from the subcategory's more specialized groups, Mineralogists And Petrologists, Geophysicists And Seismologists, Paleontologists and Volcanologists, whose members work within one narrower branch of earth science rather than general geology.
