Sociolinguistics

This group collects the Linguistics subcategory's members whose defining work concerns sociolinguistics: how language varies across social groups, dialects and communities, and how language and society shape each other, from the founders of the discipline to modern researchers on dialect variation. It is kept apart from Historical And Comparative Linguistics, whose members study change over historical time rather than variation across present-day social groups.
