David Mumford

David Bryant Mumford is an American mathematician known first for his work in algebraic geometry and later for research into machine vision and pattern theory. He won the Fields Medal, was named a MacArthur Fellow, and received the National Medal of Science in 2010. He is now a university professor emeritus in the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University.
