Anders Gustaf Ekeberg (1767-1813) was a Swedish analytical chemist who discovered the element tantalum in 1802. Born in Stockholm and based for much of his career in Uppsala, he carried out his chemical research despite having been deaf since childhood, after a severe illness, and later losing sight in one eye following a laboratory gas explosion.
