Chanchal Kumar Majumdar was an Indian theoretical physicist working in condensed matter physics and quantum mechanics, and the founding director of the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata. With Dipan Ghosh he developed the Majumdar-Ghosh model, an exactly solvable model of quantum antiferromagnetism that remains a standard reference point in the study of frustrated spin systems.
