George William Lamplugh

George William Lamplugh was a British geologist born April 8, 1859, who died October 9, 1926, and who produced the first official geological map of the Isle of Man for the British Geological Survey between 1892 and 1897, work whose original field observations and maps are held at the British Geological Survey in Edinburgh with hand-painted copies at the Manx Museum. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1905 and served as president of the Geological Society of London. He won the Bigsby Medal in 1901 and received the Wollaston Medal of the Geological Society in 1925.
