Chryssa Kouveliotou

Chryssa Kouveliotou is a Greek astrophysicist born May 26, 1953 in Athens, a professor at George Washington University and a retired senior technologist in high energy astrophysics at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. She has made major contributions to the study of transient cosmic phenomena including gamma ray bursts and discovered magnetars in 1998. She shared the 2021 Shaw Prize in Astronomy with Victoria Kaspi.
