Peter J. Stang

Peter John Stang, born November 17, 1941, in Nuremberg, Germany, is an American chemist and Distinguished Professor of chemistry at the University of Utah who studied under Andrew Streitwieser at Princeton. His research designs and synthesizes small organic molecules that self-assemble into larger, well-defined geometric shapes, structures explored for use as nano-devices and as shape-selective catalysts. He served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Chemical Society from 2002 to 2020.
