Jacob Bekenstein

Jacob David Bekenstein was a Mexican-born American-Israeli theoretical physicist who lived from 1947 to 2015, recognized for fundamental contributions to the foundation of black hole thermodynamics and to the connections between information and gravitation, including the Bekenstein bound, the Bekenstein-Hawking formula, black hole thermodynamics, the no-hair theorem, and the AQUAL and tensor-vector-scalar theories of modified gravity. He received the Rothschild Prize in Physics in 1988, the Israel Prize in 2005 and the Einstein Prize of the American Physical Society in 2015. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2012.
