Dennis Gabor (1900-1979) was a Hungarian-British physicist, born in Budapest, who obtained British citizenship in 1946 and spent most of his life in England. He won the 1971 Nobel Prize in Physics for his invention and development of the holographic method. Several concepts in signal processing and optics, including Gabor filters and Gabor wavelets, are named for his foundational research.
