Christoph Gerber

Christoph Gerber is a Swiss physicist born May 15, 1942, a professor at the University of Basel. He co-invented the atomic force microscope alongside Gerd Binnig and Calvin Quate, publishing the invention in 1986 in Physical Review Letters. He shared the 2016 Kavli Prize in Nanoscience with Binnig and Quate for the scanning force microscope, and he is a fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the American Physical Society and the Institute of Physics UK.
