George Paget Thomson

George Paget Thomson was a British experimental physicist, the son of J. J. Thomson, who had shown the electron to be a particle and won his own Nobel Prize in 1906. George Paget Thomson demonstrated that electrons could also be diffracted like waves, by passing them through thin metal films of known crystal structure, confirming Louis de Broglie's wave theory of matter. He shared the 1937 Nobel Prize in Physics with Clinton Davisson.
