Jack Steinberger

Physics

Jack Steinberger, born Hans Jakob Steinberger (1921-2020), was a German-born American physicist. He shared the 1988 Nobel Prize in Physics with Leon M. Lederman and Melvin Schwartz for the discovery of the muon neutrino. His career included posts at the University of California, Berkeley, Columbia University and CERN, and he received the United States National Medal of Science in 1988.
