Philipp Eduard Anton von Lenard was a Hungarian-German experimental physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1905 for his work on cathode rays. His research showed that the energy of electrons ejected from a cathode depends only on the frequency of the light striking it and not on its intensity, a finding that became central to later understanding of the photoelectric effect.
