Alfred Lee Loomis (1887-1975) was an American attorney, investment banker, and physicist who made significant contributions to scientific research and wartime technology. He helped develop the LORAN navigation system, led the MIT Radiation Laboratory's advances in radar during the Second World War, and co-invented the microscope centrifuge; his role in radar and atomic bomb research is credited with contributing to the Allied victory. He also pioneered electroencephalography research and discovered the K-complex brainwave pattern in 1937.
