Nikolay Basov

Nikolay Gennadiyevich Basov was a Soviet physicist. He carried out fundamental work in quantum electronics that contributed to the development of laser and maser technology. He shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physics with Alexander Prokhorov and Charles Townes for work that led to the construction of oscillators and amplifiers based on the maser and laser principle.
