Ali Aliev

Ali Enver Aliev, born September 10, 1955, is a Crimean Tatar American physicist born in Tashkent to a family exiled there in 1944, who works as a research professor at the NanoTech Institute and adjunct professor of physics at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research covers nanoscience, nanotechnology, electrochromism and acoustics, and he was named Time magazine's Inventor of the Year in 2011 for work that includes a patent for a thermal invisibility cloak among his more than a dozen patents and over 100 scientific articles. He earned his doctorate in molecular and thermal physics from the Uzbek Academy of Sciences in 1984 and a Doctor of Science degree in 1992 before emigrating to the United States, where he has worked since 2004.
