Eva Andrei

Eva Yocheved Andrei is an American physicist born in Bucharest, Romania, a Distinguished Professor and Board of Governors Professor at Rutgers University. Her research concerns emergent properties of matter arising from the collective behavior of many particles, especially low-dimensional phenomena at low temperatures and high magnetic fields, including contributions to the discovery of the fractional quantum Hall effect and insulating phases of Dirac electrons in graphene; her graphene research was recognized as one of Science magazine top ten discoveries of 2009. She shared the 2026 Kavli Prize in Nanoscience with Pablo Jarillo-Herrero and Allan H. MacDonald, and she is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences and the American Physical Society.
