Cedric Patrice Thierry Villani, born in 1973, is a French mathematician and politician who works primarily on partial differential equations, Riemannian geometry and mathematical physics. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 2010, and was director of the Institut Henri Poincare at Sorbonne University from 2009 to 2017.
