Kurt Lambeck

Kurt Lambeck is a Dutch Australian geophysicist born September 20, 1941, in Utrecht, Netherlands, who is a professor of geophysics at the Australian National University in Canberra. His research examines the interactions between ice sheets, oceans, and the solid Earth, and changes in ocean levels and their impact on human populations, and he contributed to improving the accuracy of GPS positioning. He served as president of the Australian Academy of Science from 2006 to 2010, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, received the Balzan Prize for Solid Earth Sciences in 2012 and the Wollaston Medal in 2013, and was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2021.
