Karl Waldemar Ziegler was a German chemist who lived from 1898 to 1973. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1963, jointly with Giulio Natta, for his work on polymers, recognized by the Nobel Committee for research on organometallic compounds that led to new polymerization reactions and new industrial processes. He is also known for his work on free radicals, many membered rings, and organometallic compounds, and for developing the Ziegler-Natta catalyst.
