Alain Jean Aspect (born 15 June 1947) is a French physicist noted for his experimental work on quantum entanglement; the Aspect experiment (1980-1982) bears his name. He was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics, jointly with John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger, for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science.
