Louis de Broglie was a French theoretical physicist and aristocrat known for his contributions to quantum theory. In his 1924 doctoral thesis he proposed that electrons possess wave properties, a concept known as the de Broglie hypothesis, and he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1929 for this discovery of the wave nature of matter.
