Rockefeller University is a private graduate research university in New York City, begun in 1901 as the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Oswald Avery and his colleagues showed there that DNA carries genetic information, and Peyton Rous and many other biomedical scientists worked in its laboratories. It teaches and does research across the natural sciences, medicine and the humanities. The atlas links scientists to it where their cited articles say they worked or studied there.
