Universities and Colleges

The University of Manchester is a public research university in Manchester, England, formed in 2004 by the merger of the Victoria University of Manchester, which grew from Owens College of 1851, and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. Ernest Rutherford carried out the first induced nuclear reaction there, Alan Turing worked at its computing laboratory, and Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov isolated graphene there. The atlas links scientists to it under its earlier name, the Victoria University of Manchester, as well.
