The University of Freiburg is a public research university in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, founded in 1457 by Archduke Albrecht VI of Austria. Hans Spemann taught there, and the university has a long record in biology, chemistry, physics and medicine. It teaches and does research across the natural sciences, medicine and the humanities.
