The University of Innsbruck is a public research university in Austria, founded in 1669 by Emperor Leopold I. Victor Hess, who discovered cosmic rays in balloon flights and received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1936, held a chair there. Its physicists are known today for quantum optics and quantum information. The atlas links scientists to it where their cited articles say they studied or worked there.
