Sara Seager

Sara Seager is a Canadian-American astronomer and planetary scientist born on July 21, 1971, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology known for her work on extrasolar planets and their atmospheres. She is the author of two textbooks on these topics and was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2013 citing her theoretical work on detecting chemical signatures in exoplanet atmospheres and developing low-cost space observatories to observe planetary transits. She shared the 2024 Kavli Prize in Astrophysics with David Charbonneau for their ground-breaking work on the discovery and characterization of extra-solar planets and their atmospheres.
