JoAnne Stubbe, born June 11, 1946, in Champaign, Illinois, is an American chemist who taught chemistry and biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until her retirement in 2017. Trained under George Kenyon, she is best known for her work on ribonucleotide reductases, the enzymes that convert the building blocks of RNA into those of DNA, research that clarified a step essential to how cells replicate their genetic material. She received the National Medal of Science in 2009 for this work.
