Arnab Rai Choudhuri

Arnab Rai Choudhuri, born in 1956 in Kolkata, is an Indian astrophysicist who specializes in astrophysical magnetohydrodynamics, particularly solar magnetic cycles and sunspot modeling. A professor at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, he earned his doctorate at the University of Chicago in 1985 under Eugene Parker and has served as a visiting scientist at Cambridge's Isaac Newton Institute and the University of Chicago. He holds fellowships with The World Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy, received the Chandrasekhar Prize of Plasma Physics in 2022, and has authored academic texts on astrophysics and plasma physics published by Cambridge and Oxford University Presses.
