Alec Jeffreys

Sir Alec John Jeffreys is a British geneticist who developed the techniques of genetic fingerprinting and DNA profiling, methods that identify an individual from patterns in their DNA. His discovery, made in 1984, is now used worldwide in forensic science to assist criminal investigations and to resolve disputes over paternity and immigration.
