Anthony James Leggett

Sir Anthony James Leggett is a British-American theoretical physicist, born in 1938, widely recognized as a world leader in the theory of low-temperature physics, particularly for pioneering work on superfluidity and the understanding of superfluid helium. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1980 and appointed KBE in 2004. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2003, shared with Vitaly Ginzburg and Alexei Abrikosov, for pioneering contributions to the theory of superconductors and superfluids. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2002/2003, shared with Bertrand Halperin, for research on condensed forms of matter.
